Firefighter Injury and Illness Reduction (FIIRE) WA L&I

Presentation for Firefighter Injury and Illness Reduction (FIIRE) Program with WA State Labor and Industries. FIIRE works with fire departments to reduce firefighter occupational injuries and illnesses and implement best practices, specifically regarding carcinogen exposure and WMSDs. The program hosts several meetings throughout the year that cover various safety and health topics that are relevant to the fire service.

New York State Professional Firefighters Association

Presented at the annual NYSPFFA Health and Wellness Conference.

Maia Brown, Reproductive Health in the Fire Service- FF/Paramedic in Bellevue, Washington and active member in her union, Local 1604. Since experiencing her own infertility as a firefighter, Maia has established a non-profit to support firefighters with reproductive health concerns by way of grants for fertility treatment, consulting, policy development and education. Her hope is to help others feel supported, raise awareness on the effects of firefighting on reproductive health and most importantly, keep firefighters and their families safe.
